SPOKEN ENGLISH

Be confident and speak as often as possible to as many people as you possibly can! Do not be shy to make mistakes! The more you practice the better and more confident you will become in your pronunciation and vocabulary. Remember, speaking is a skill like learning a musical instrument or new sport – the only way you can get good is to actually do it!

Use technology

A smartphone can be a powerful tool for learning languages. Use it to record yourself speaking then listen back to see how your English sounds to other people. Make the most of all your favourite productivity apps to organize your practice time and make a note of all the new words you learn.

Listen

Read out loud

Read the newspaper or a magazine out to yourself. You could even find a script for your favourite TV show and act it out! This is a great way to practice pronunciation because you only need to concentrate on making sure you English sounds great and don’t need to worry about sentence structure or grammar.

Learn a new word every day

Choose a word you would like to work on and use practice it in different sentences. Use the word until you have learnt it and keep using it regularly.

Watch films

Watch movies in English and pay attention to new vocabulary and pronunciation. Imitate the actors and have fun with it.

Make friends

Make friends with English speakers or others learning to speak English and compare notes. Talk about things that you have learnt and exchange ideas.

Do interesting activities in English

Take a cooking course in English or join a book club! Anything you enjoy doing, make sure you do it and communicate it in English. Using English to talk about things you enjoy will make practising a positive experience.

Have a debate

Debate all the topics that interest you with friends in English. Try to use as much vocabulary as you can to get your point across and listen to the other arguments carefully so you can argue against them effectively.

Use a dictionary

Online dictionaries often have audio examples so you can check your pronunciation and there are lots of great dictionary apps that you can take everywhere with you on your smartphone. Make sure not to become too reliant on these tools, though. Have a go at saying the words first then check afterwards to see if you were right!

Find an interesting T.V show or news bulletin that you can listen to . Spend as much time as possible
listening to spoken English and watching English movies. It will improve your vocabulary and help you in constructing better sentences. You also learn pronunciation which is an important part of spoken English. You may speak English well but if your pronunciation is wrong then you are defeating the purpose of learning English.

                                       STOP

                            START DOING !!!!!

Its not really impossible to learn English, you know.Don't let the fear of making mistakes and being embarrassed stop you from trying ! Mistakes are the basic part of any learning process. Hesitation and thinking about how people perceive you if you make mistakes while speaking is the greatest fear that almost everyone faces. Fear in any form should be overcome as it disables you from leading a normal life.

Look back at every 'First time' in your life ............ the first day at school ..... the first day at College ....... the first day of your career ..... the first day in a strange new place ....

How did you feel ? Nervous..., anxious..., fearful....?

Well, this is the case here too !! The first few attempts are going to be awkward and highly embarrassing but PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT !!! ( Haven't we heard that before ?)

You cannot improve unless you interact with people.

Here are a few tried and proven tips to help you :

* Read as much as you can, it is considered the best practice to enhance speaking skills. Observe advertisements, read anything in English you can lay your hands on .... a travel brochure, an old news clipping, a notice .... anything.

* Listening is another sure method of improving a language. As children we learn our first words by listening to those around us.

* Read aloud so that you can hear your own voice. You can easily find out the areas you are lacking in.

* You definitely need a teacher to correct you that can be anyone from a friend to a colleague to a trainer.

* Vocabulary : learning new words and their pronunciation, and meanings. Don't forget to use it in a sentence that you can relate to in your life. Learn 5 new words a day ..... in a week you will learn 35 new words .... in a month you would have learnt an awesome 150 new words !!

Now you are improving !!!

* Last but not least .......

NEVER believe anyone who claims that "You can learn English in a week" !

                                            Impossible !!!

It is wise to realize that nothing valuable in life is achieved in a short duration. Every lesson in life teaches us that you can build your own destiny but are you willing to put in your 100 % for it to be realized ?

If 'Yes' ............ start today !!!
