QUESTION TAGS
These are short questions placed after a sentence. If the main part of a
sentence is positive, then a negative question tag is used.
Eg;
You are coming home today, aren’t you?
Your brother is a doctor, isn’t he?
Note that the question tag uses the same auxiliary verb as the main part
of the sentence. In the examples above; are and is.
If the main part of the sentence does not contain an auxiliary verb, then
the question tag uses any form of “DO”.
Eg;
Your Mom drives, doesn’t
she?
You cook, don’t
you?
Please be cautious when using “I am” in
the main part of the sentence, as the question tag that follows will be “aren’t I”. There just isn’t anything like “ame’nt I”.
There are two types of question tags :
One is .....
..... the other is .....
