SILENT LETTERS
Silent letters are letters that you can't hear when you say the word aloud, but they are very much there. This may prove to be frustrating for English learners as about 60% of English words have silent letters.
Have a look at the list of some commonly used words. The highlighted and underlined letters are silent when the words are pronounced.
It isn't as bad as it seems .... develop an interest in words, read a lot and you actually begin to enjoy the journey !
